step1: go to your local game store near you
step2: say "I want to preorder the PS3"
step3: the guy who works there will tell you how much money to put down on reserving it so give him that money.
step4: wait until the system is available, pay the rest to that store & pick it up without the extra wait. 
I've done the same thing with the PS2 and a few games so this is the best way to do it.

I dont think they will delay it. if they did at this time when its getting close to the launch that would be bad.

I couldnt be botherd waiting for the PS3 so i bought the XBOX 360. Oh ya if u do buy the XBOX360 or the PS3 make sure u have a HD Ready tv because the graphics look way better!!!
