I am a big fan of sony, but lately i've been dissapointed by their decision to price the PS3 and its games the way they did. I mean 500-600 dollars for the system and 60-100 dollars for the games thats to much for me. Anyone else agree?

they need to sell their products to the average person. NOT just to the millionaires who will say "huh, only $3,000. wow what a deal!"

The Ubisoft boss said that PS3 will have to reduce there price in 2007 if they want to compete with the xbox 360. So possibly we cud see a price reduction next year but its unlikely.

There's not a computer on the planet that can touch Cell in any area. Be it memory management, parallel computing, downright speed, whatever. Even the new, highly generic and underwhelming multi-core Intel and AMD processors pale in comparison to Cells capabilities.
Now that the final devkits are out and Cell / RSX are working through the incredibly fast and efficient FlexIO from Rambus those PC's they are using, no matter what they are, aren't going to be able to duplicate what a PS3 will be capable of.
This is why I've been saying for awhile that the PS3 will be able to keep pace with the PC's for years to come without problem. Its just superior in speed, precision, cycle losses being minimized, mathematic processing, physics, geometry, shaders, whatever. Maybe in 4 or 5 years a PC will exist that will make the PS3 port have to be downgraded in a way, but until then its highly doubtful.
The PS3 is a severely underpriced product. The state of the art Cell Processor, Blu-Ray capabilites, DVR capabilites, the ability to stream any media wirelessly from your PS3 to your PSP anywhere in the world, built in Wi-Fi, and true 1080p high definition. The Cell Processor alone should cost upwards of $4,000. The PS3 is a steal and you're a fool not to think so.

i would pay i have a job and save $100 a week i have been working for 3 months at this job i am only 17 by the way in highschool so not a great job but that is over $1200 dollars i will keep saving jsut incase the price is amazingly high.

I agree that the price is high for the system, but if you compare to what Xbox offeres for 400, its not like Sony is skimping and give you nothing more for 200 bucks, granted, it all comes down to a matter of whether you want all those other options. Xbox can offer these add ons, but you have to choose to make that kind of investment. Personally, I want it so I can't argue the price too much.

yeah the price is pretty high. Everything you get with the ps3 is a great deal but it might be a little too much too soon. Sega failed in the system wars because they kept trying to be the first to come out with everything. I don't know if blue-ray will be popular enough for the ps3 to succeed in the long run. But if it does it will probably be because of the ps3. Ironic in a way lol.

well, it is a high price, but it has an hd dvd player on it, and considering that you can't get one of those for under a thousand bucks, it's a pretty good deal, that also could be why it has a high price point/
