Hi,
I am wondering whether the PS3 will play PS2 and PS1 games? I mean new technology is coming in and you would be a fool to have it play PS1 games, but you never know.

it actually will be able to play ps2 an ps1 games except for a few exceptions

what are the exceptions if the system going to be $400 it should play all of them

it would be cool if the old games were able to get better graphics after playing them on the ps3, but they wont be so that kinda sucks.

Some games will look better thanks to the increased processing and graphical power and will benefit from full-screen anti-aliasing. However, this will only apply to some games and not all.

It doesnt seem like that could be possible though. The games are built for the specific systems that they play on and unless if there is something in a ps3 that changes lets say the graphics of a ps2 game into a ps3 it doesnt seem as though the older games will have better graphics.

Who knows there might be a chance that better grahpic will appear within older games, but yea I see what you are saying.
You never know though...chould happen...ahahaha

I heard that PS2 games are better on the PS3.
My cat told me that  and she want's meow mix, a new toy, sell hair balls on ebay, and to see Final Fantasy's Cait Sith on the new game Dirge of Cerebus.

Sony would be being foolish if they did not include the ability to play all of their playstation games on the ps3.... that is one of their main strenghts... and gives them a major advantage...not to mention i would be able to sell my old ps2 which would give me some extra cash to buy my ps3

Well to be totally honest, I just wanted to post here cause I'm new to the site and I wanted to get a few post under my belt. I think the ps3 will improve the ps2 graphics, but I don't really think it will do much for the ps1 games. That's what I think anyway. Later. Peace

Regarding the questions asked about which older generation games will be playable on the ps3, sony has not released any official list et. Hopefully we'll get some more info by the time the Tokyo Game Show comes around.

I should imagine very few games won't be backwards-compatible.
